1 January 1989

All charts are dated the Sunday they were broadcast the official date is the Saturday afterwards.

The post Christmas Chart has three new entries. The return of Duran Duran and Fine Young Cannibals to the chart plus the debut appearance for Will To Power.

Two Chart Breakers into the Top 40. Cimie Fisher and Yazz take advantage of the new year lull and climb into the 40.

In the Top 10 Kim Wilde claims her third Top 10 in a row, however it would be the last time she would make the Official Top 10. The rest of the Top 10 is pretty stagnant, though Cliff's big fall to 5 meant a new number one.
